Manicures #10 and #11, Pedicure #5

28 Apr

Okay, so technically these count as one manicure. I only put a top coat of/finish on top of the original, but I still think they are 2 separate looks!

Zoya Mira:

Wow, wow, wow! Another satisfying Zoya color! (Color is more like the picture with flash) Application on this was very easy and it required 2 coats. There was no streakyness. Note to self: Zoya Cremes are out of this world!

After day 2, I decided it was time to update this manicure, since I was seeing a bit of tipwear. I decided to use OPI Black Shatter:

So I don’t know about this. I love Black Shatter, but I don’t like this combination. It is too gothic for me! I think I’d prefer this with lighter colors underneath. I will attempt this another day. Black Shatter was easy to apply and only required one coat. I applied a top coat to make it glossy because it does dry matte.

Now on my toes I am wearing my most favorite color ever, Essie Jazz:

I don’t know if you can tell, but I am at half a bottle. I think I only have one other polish at this level! I love this color so much! I actually picked it up because of the name  – it reminded me of my Jazz dance days. No idea why it is called Jazz, but I love it! (I named my blog kinda sorta after this color). It is a very nice grey/pink/purple/nude. I have to admit that my polish is kind of smelly, like chemical smelly, but I still love it. You get even coverage after 2 coats.

In other news – I participated in the Zoya exchange. I got 6 colors and they are all backordered. The waiting game begins again! Zoya always does this to me!

Manicures #8 and #9

25 Apr

I wish I could say that these manicures were excellent, but they weren’t. I love the colors, but they didn’t work for me. I’ll explain after each picture.

First, OPI Jade is the New Black:

I love this color! Application was a bit streaky, however the 2nd coat did even out the nail polish. What I didn’t like? Well, it’s my fault, with washing dishes and doing chores, I chipped my nails pretty easily. It was okay though because I was going to do my Easter manicure the next day. I will still give JITNB a try once more at a later date.

Here is my Easter manicure with my amateur dots:

I used OPI Rumple’s Wiggin’ for the base color, Depend No. 210 and Color Club Revealed for the dots. It looks okay, right? Well it was a nightmare. The OPI took 3 coats just to make it even and it ended up being thick. The dots were easy to make using a dotting tool. Then they started to lift because of all the layers. UGH! I’m going to see if next time I can use 2 coats. I don’t like using three coats!

My dilemma today is if I should participate in the Zoya exchange. I do have polish to send over but I can’t decide! I don’t know if I should go ahead and get all this nail polish. I was able to find some dupes in Zoya for other colors I like, but I’m still not ready to pull the trigger. I have only 2 days left! Ahh, what to do!?

21 Apr

Dear God, I have to stop buying nail polish! But my excuse is that there were some really good sales going on and I did manage to cross some polishes off of my wishlist!

First up is my CVS purchase. Revlon were buy one get one, 1/2 off.

From L to R: Powder Puff Matte Suede and Pretty in Papaya. I can’t wait to use that beautiful coral color!

Today I want for my somewhat quarterly trip to Ulta. It’s a bit of a distance from where I live. They had a lot of buy 2 get 1 free deals and I did have a $3.50 coupon too. Here is what I got:

From L to R: White Cap, Salsa and Sexy in the City. I’m a little annoyed because White Cap and Sexy in the City did not photograph well, so this photo does them no justice! I can’t wait to use White Cap over some of my colors! China Glaze were buy 2 get, 1 free.

From L to R: Bogie, First Class Ticket, Midnight Mission and Emerald Fitzgerald. All these were $2.99 each in the clearance section. I have Ingrid at home already, so I have most of the Vintage Vixen Collection. There were other colors at Ulta from this collection, but I wasn’t too crazy about them. I am happy with this selection!

From L to R: My Private Jet, Mrs. O’Leary’s BBQ and Jade is the New Black. These have been crossed off my wishlist! I only have Lincoln Park after Dark left on my list. (I think that’s the only one left). These were also buy 2, get 1 free.

From L to R: Black with Envy (yay!!), Cotton Candy and Peach Smoothie. The last two are for my mom for Easter. If she doesn’t like them, then I guess they are mine, but I hope she does! I will have to post the picture of her present tomorrow night. She is getting them early because she wants me to do her nails for Easter! These were buy 2 get 1 free also. I was so happy Black with Envy was included in the sale!

From L to R: Ulta Pink Leather and Casual Mauve @ 99 cents each! And Barielle Aura Angora @ $1.99! I wanted to order this color off the Ulta website, but it is regular price. I am so happy I waited until I went to the store. The two Ultas are also for my mom for Easter.

Now I have 2 $5 coupons off of a purchase of $20. I don’t think I will be using them because I can’t imagine spending that much more on nail polish! My only other Ulta purchase today was makeup sponges!

What color to paint my nails tonight?

I’m also excited for my project this long weekend. I am going to try and swatch all my nail polishes on my nail wheels! Wish me luck!

Current Manicure (#7)

21 Apr

Well this won’t be my current manicure for long. This morning I helped out my bf and washed the dishes at his house. Since I don’t have a pair of dishwashing gloves there, they started to chip. I present, Zoya Breezi:

I bought this Zoya during there BOGO for the summer collections. I love this color and I read that it is a dupe for OPI’s Suzi Says Feng Shui. Application on this was a dream, smooth coverage in one coat but since I am a habitual 2 coater, I had to do it! It’s a shame I have to take this off though.

Tonight I will post my massive haul from Ulta. Thank goodness 4 of these polishes are gifts! I’ll also need to change my toe polish for Easter, but that won’t be until Saturday.

Current manicure (#6) and pedicure (#4)

18 Apr

This is my current manicure and pedicure. I will change the nail polish on my hands tomorrow night. I currently have Color Club Wild Orchid on:

Can I just say how amazing this color is? It’s like a purle grey or a grurple with some shmmer to it. This is from the Untamed Luxury collection. Application on this was very smooth and even, however it still required three coats, because it is a bit on the sheer side.

Next up, my pedicure, Essie Angora Cardi:

This is from Essie’s Cuddle with Color Fall 2009 collection. I actually have a 2nd bottle of this since I won the whole collection off of eBay. This color is a dark dusty rose. So beautiful! It looks a little different on my toes, but I do love it. The application is smooth and even in 2 coats.

I’ve noticed that I have been improving with my nail painting skills. I think one day soon I will post my tips and tricks.

Also, this week I am headed to Ulta for my quarterly trip (it’s out of the way for me), so I hope to have another haul even though I should be on a ban!

Manicure (#5) and Pedicure (#3)

17 Apr

This entry is not listed as Current Manicure and Pedicure since I have since changed my polish once again!

Some time ago I acquired Wet N Wild’s Fast Dry Gray’s Anatomy, a fabulous duochrome. For a while this was a hard to find color so I did spend a bit more to get it. :/ It is supposedly a dupe for Deborah Lippman’s Wicked Game and OPI’s Not Like the Movies (Katy Perry Collection). I’m embarrased to say that this has been sitting in my stash for a couple of months. You’d think that since I was so desperate to get it, that I’d immediately use it. Well Thursday night came along and I wanted to try it out. I knew it was kind of sheer but I wanted to see how it would look with other colors underneath it, so I busted out the nail wheels:

Without flash, from L to R: GA over white, GA alone, GA over black

With flash L to R: GA over white, GA alone, GA over black

Both wheels are with 2 coats. For the GA and black it’s one coat GA, one coat black.

Polish overload

15 Apr

Oh boy. I’m a bit hesitant to post all this nail polish goodness, but here goes.

My eBay purchases FINALLY came in this past Monday. FINALLY!!

The Essie’s are from the Fall 2009 Cuddle with Color Collection. They are: Mink Muffs, Chinchilly, Angora Cardi, Bright Tights and Pink Parka. Then I have 2 OPI’s: Russian Navy Suede and You Don’t Know Jacques! (Which I already posted a manicure of)

As I have probably posted more than once, I am on the hunt for Color Club’s Starry Temptress collection. Supposedly there are sets of thse floating around at Ross stores. Unfortunately, there isn’t one close to me. The closest store is a little more than an hour away. And I’m not going to travel there for no reason. Last Sunday my bf and I had nothing better to do, so we decided to take a road trip to the closest Ross which is a bit closer to his place, but not by much. It felt like we were driving forever.
